Medical needs: Children who require special care for their physical health are accommodated within Minding Miracles' program as long as the child's needs can be safely satisfied within the scope of our staff's expertise. Every staff member is required to maintain CPR & first aid certification as well as undergo training in Epipen and medication administration.
Developmental needs: Students with speech delays, sensory processing issues, ADhD and autism spectrum disorder can be accommodated through interventions provided by our diligently trained staff. See more information below.
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is provided by our team of BCBA's, RBT's and paraprofessionals. ABA addresses play skills, socialization, communication barriers, skill acquisition and challenging behaviors. ABA is approved by most insurance companies as treatment for a clinical diagnosis of autism. We work with you and your insurer to attain prior-authorization. Minding Miracles is in-network with Horizon BCBS, United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Americhoice and most NJ Family Care plans.
For students who attend our program on a full-time basis, Minding Miracles works with your early intervention speech, OT, PT or DI provider to allow services to be provided within our building. Services must be scheduled ahead of time. This allows for your child to receive the services within their natural environment, have access to peers for play interventions and collaboration between the Minding Miracles & EI teams. Minding Miracles does not directly employee related service professionals.
Minding Miracles' physical environment has been mindfully designed to be engaging, multi-sensory and augment communication. Systematic tools have been embedded into our program such as picture boards for choice-making, sign language activities, structured routines and collaborative activities. Because these elements are components of our overall program, they become embedded scaffolds that assist your child in language development and skill acquisition throughout every classroom interaction.
Minding Miracles was founded on the principle that all children benefit from the opportunity to learn alongside their peers in the natural environment. Every child is a myriad of strengths, challenges, likes, dislikes and personality traits that make them unique. Embracing the uniqueness of all children is the essence of inclusive education.
Inclusion offers the opportunity to teach children to understand, respect, and value diversity. This notion will enhance each child’s conception of individualization, thus generating positive relationships amongst each citizen; impacting society at large.
We believe that inclusion isn’t a destination to be reached after attaining prerequisite milestones, but is a right that all children warrant. Children, by nature, do not discriminate based on skill levels or abilities. Inclusion gives all students the opportunity to learn from individuals who exhibit differences that teach tolerance, patience, communication, and acceptance. To that end, Minding Miracles’ staff will make every attempt to support all students in an inclusive environment that scaffolds development and fosters friendship.
